The seriel number is at the left brake cover or the left rear of axle housing. The number you listed do not seem right to me. The WD 45 was made starting 1953 - 1957. The WD was started in 1948 if I am not mistaken. so if it is a WD 45 it is newer than the "late forties". The research and Info section on the left of this page may be of some help to you.
