Really need some more information in order to give you an answer, but i'll try a stab at it. Assuming it's a V-6, the first thing that you'll have to do is replace the intake manifold. Be certain to vacume out the intake ports in the head and the oil gallery so that there's no little plastic parts floating around in there. Once you get the manifold replaced, then troubleshooting the problem comes next. Were you using ether or starting fluid when it backfired? Has the engine been difficult to start? It could be something as simple as a tune-up is needed. Or, if the engine has high miles, the cam gear or timing chain could be worn out, causing the cam to jump time. Give us some more information and we'll try to help. OK-AL
