Your fergy has a wet sleeve motor , that is the sleeves can be pressed in and pulled out of the block, it is surrounded by water. At the bottom of of the 4 sleeves there is 2 figure 8 gaskets that stop water going into the sump, it is very common ( especially if you have had the head off ) that you lose the seal of the gasket You will have to pull the sleeves out and clean it up and install new gaskets , everything has to be in good shape to get a good seal , it all seals as you torque the head down so cleanliness and preperation are vital . If your sleeves pistons etc are worn you may as well replace the lot as new sleeves with matching pistons and rings are very cheap, its the time to do it I'm in Australia where parts are very cheap for fergys Hope this helps.
