Yeah, things happen. I always removed my ring while at work. Well I am retired now so I wear my ring all of the time. I was using a 1/4" drive ratchet with a 6" extension to tighten the battery ground cable and I shorted between the posts with my ring filling in the gap. It burnt a gap out of the ring and I was able to pull it off fast. I was lucky and I can barely see where it happened but for a few weeks it was pretty sore. I knew better but I used the rachet and extension for the battery hold down and then went right to the cable.
