I don't know about a JD, but for what it's worth, I put one in my MF35 a couple weeks ago and I can say that it starts easier and idles smoother than before. I made no other changes-same plugs, cap, rotor ect. Overall power seems about the same. It was easy to install and I'm happy with it so far. Mine only cost about 85 bucks.
