The key is to get the same power (cranking amps & reserve) from the single 12v as you did from the 2 6v. I much prefer a single 12v, less cables to deal with, and generally when one 6v goes bad, it wrecks the other as well, you get more time between batt changes using just one. But, not just any 12v will give you good preformance. --->Paul
