JD Model B 4TH 6TH

When I put the shifter in 4th or 6th and then engag the clutch she doesn't move. I have taken a look see and all the parts appear
to be there.(4TH & 6TH speed sliding pinion, drive gear etc. All other gears are working. What is missing ? What is wrong. ?
4th & 6th drive gear a bit warn, some teeth chipped etc....Even with the service manual I can't figure it out. Never done this
before either... Thank you..
