The idea of this is to make the officer (street cop, desk cop, jail guards, ect) aware of what the device does in various stiuations and what to expect when it is used in the wrong enviroment where more than the crook is hit with the weapon. It also help take the "fun" out of horsing around with it (tasers, pepper sprays, ect.) if you know what it feels like then you would be more carefull around others. Although it is quite amusing to EMS when the deputies: 1) release peperspray towards the wind, in a closed room (booking) and in the squad car. 2) fire the taser pointblank with another officer trying to hold the crook, so close that the deputy and the crook is standing in the same puddle of water, or for the second time while the other cops are trying to cuff the crook.
