I hope it's wrong too, because severe sustained drought could revive a project I heard about to flood the Rocky Mountain Trench to divert water from northern Canada south to sustain farming, cities, whay have you. From what I've read, the plan was made in the 1940s and has been percolating ever since. This sounds like it has the makings of a Soviet-class environmental disaster, from one end of the project to another. Seems like since the end of the Cold War, this continent is taking on more and more characteristics of the defeated opponent. But I fear there is so much money to be made in construction and water sales that a lot of folks will push hard for it, and a big time drought like you mention may just be enough of a trigger to get it going. R
