The 3.3 has timing chain . Both the 3.3 and 3.8 are very dependable motors .I have customers puching close to 200,000 on some of these with no major problems .As to be expected with any make ,the key to long life is Maintinance @!@ They all BREAK ! Seen dodges that have been rode hard and out away wet that are junk at 60,000 miles . Same with other brands .I shy away from Fords because I see more more of those with bigger problems wife has a 2002 Grand Caravan , 3.3 70,000 miles,so far power steering pump is only major thing had to do to it .
