Your pickup has a vacuum tank to store enough vacuum to run the heater/ac system for short runs at or near wide open throttle. your problem sounds like a leaking vacuum hose or a bad check valve between the engine and vacuum tank.

Earthmaster Project Progress Just a little update on my Earthmaster......it's back from the dead!
