We just got an 02 Honda Civic. Was looking through the manual and it says using other than Honda oil in the transmission (automatic) for extended periods will cause problems, sticking, guming up, etc. It does say Dexron is OK to use in an emergency, however it should be draimed and flushed several times with Honda oil. Does anyone know if this is so or is it Honda trying to sell their oil? I guess for what it would cost it wouldn't hurt to buy thier stuff. Also, is there a vent on the transmission? The fill/dipstick seems to fit on the loose side and I was thinking of adding an "O" ring around it to make it more dirt and water proof, but don't want to seal it too well if it should happen to be the vent too. Thanks to anyone who can help.
