Dave, Well you are just about next door neighbors with me, I am just west of Clayvile, in foster, near the junkyards, you may know where they are. Anyway, for shows and events, I will try and tell you of a few, It is too early for me to know when most will be yet though. There is the Old Iron Tractor Club in Woodstock CT. 55 Bull Hill Rd. Woodsstock, CT 06281. They have a spring show at the Woodstock fair grounds and put on the tractor show at the fair later in the summer. Aslo have a few events each season. Then there is two clubs down south county way, one is a pulling club, they do a good job, stock drawbars, wheelie bars not needed- long chain. And there is a antique tractor club too. Friend of mine can give you the details of that one if you want. He is trying to get me interested in these. The Antique Tractor Pullers of CT do quite a few pulls at a lot of the fairs in RI and eastern CT. Starting with N. Stoneington, Foster, and on and on. A good show and swap meet is at the Quinebaug Valley Engineers Zagray Farm in Colechester CT. It is an hour or so from me, but worth the ride, good flea market and show, although sometimes there could be more tractors. A lack of tractors is made up for by the antique machine shop, construction equipment, sawmill, etc. They have just been given a couple of large Fairbanks Morse diesel engines that will be there this year. These will be running in the future. It is a good thing this place isn't closer or I would be there all the time and not doing anything for me at my place. This spring show will be May 7+8. There is another in July and Oct. On April 16 there will be a swap meet and interesting truck show in Plainfield CT, just down rt 14 into CT. This is put on by the Friends Of The Haul Of Fame, the big truck museum in Plainfield, ever been there? It's a great way to spend a Sat. mourning. Then this past fall there was a small truck show right here in Foster at the fair ground, and they wanted to have an antique tractor pull going for "entertainment" so a lot of the local tractors were there, it was a perfect day and only two miles from my house. You can e mail me t4444@ids.net if you want. Could talk on phone too. There is so much going on that I don't want to go to all of it, I have a lot I want to do here this summer. I will be at some of the events, especially the Zagray farm ones, and some of the close pulls, shows, and fairs. Tom

Old Time Threshing - by Anthony West. A lovely harvest evening late September 1947, I was a school boy, like all school boys I loved harvest time. The golden corn ripens well and early, the stoking, stacking,.... the drawing in with the tractors and trailers and a few buck rakes thrown in, and possibly a heavy horse. It would be a great day for the collies and the terrier dogs, rats and mice would be at the bottom of the stacks so the dogs, would have a busy time hunting and killing, all the corn was gathered and ricked in what we c
