Bill in Wisconsin – I don’t really want to get into the subject of politics, as that seems to really feed the “flame wars” – and most of us on this site are here to discuss old iron and our love for it and farming the way it used to be. Nobody needs any more hurt feelings or personal attacks (and Kim is probably tired of playing the role of baby-sitter). . . As for concealed-carry laws, the statistics I have seen indicate a drop in crime rates when the bad guys don’t know if their victims are going to be armed or not. For those who believe gun bans work, please explain the situation in our nation’s capital. Washington, D.C. has had an outright ban on all handguns since 1976 and a ban on long guns (rifles/shotguns) unless the owner has been a permanent resident of the District since that date *and* owned them at the time the ban went into effect. The streets of our capital should be safe from gun-toting bad guys, no? But somehow DC manages to have the second-highest number of gun deaths *in the country* (and sometimes claims first place). Just one more reason I lived in Virginia and commuted in to the District when I was in the Navy and stationed there. . . As for the “¢” in my posting, this crafty Yankee has to admit to a bit of creativity…I composed my posting in Microsoft Word, then cut-and-pasted it into the reply box. (In MS Word, to get a “¢” you press the “Control” key on the lower left of your keyboard and the slash at the same time, then just press the letter C. Works every time…) More of my 2¢ worth. . . Let’s see, that makes 4¢ now. I’d better keep track, ’cause I’ll probably be taxed on it. – Maine Fordson

Restoration Story: Fordson Major - by Anthony West. George bought his Fordson Major from a an implement sale about 18 years ago for £200.00 (UK). There is no known history regarding its origins or what service it had done, but the following work was undertaken alone to bring it up to show standard. From the engine number, it was found that this Major was produced late 1946. It was almost complete but had various parts that would definitely need replacing.
