Unless the engine has been swapped, the serial number would put it as a 1944 2N. The guy probably thinks it is a 9N because the first two places of the serial number are:

9N157972 (I take it this is the one you're looking at.) I can't tell from the picture whether the radius rods are the older I-beam/channel style or hollow oval.
