Think it's about 5-10mph. Had mine go off once while slowly skidding on ice downhill and into a pole. I was taking it calmly instride until the last second when I thought, "Oh s$%&!, the airbags going to..." POW!! My glasses ended up in the backseat and my nose was red and swollen, as you'd expect from being punched out. I've heard it's important to keep your legs and arms positioned correctly, mine were. All in all, not too bad an experience, lot's better than the injuries I'd have suffered at road speeds &/or involving another vehicle. "Course the second round of injury is when you have to pay to have it reset, not something I'd reccomend unless the insurance complany is covering it. My car was too bunged up to keep on the road, front clip and radiator pushed into the block on a 200K commuter vehicle.
