Running 540 round baler and dics bine with a 1000

Looking for cheap hp, was wondering how a jd 4630, witch is only 1000 rpm, will do on a 535 rd baler and a 926 disc bine? A buddy of mine does this with big ih"s and say"s he runs half throdle and saves on feul. I"m not convinced this is a good ideal. Will be doing this on bottom land and some hill ground and doing some light tillage with it. 4430"s are high piced so can I make this work? Thanks for your help.
