Well, AGCO is a public company which releases financial reports. They made a profit of $323M in their 2004 fiscal year, which was nearly double the $184M profit in 2003. See:

Clearly as a business AGCO is doing something right.

CNH, the new name of Case-New-Holland lost $157M in the most recent year for which they have published financials (year ended December 2003). See:

Just because a product seems to offer a great value does NOT mean that the manufacturer is a financial idiot. Read your business history of Toyota sometime if you want to learn that lesson well.
