independent PTO as in Cockshutt- the inventor, a lever to put the pto in or out, totally independent of the foot clutch. Two stage foot clutch, as in Massey 65 and others push the foot clutch all the way down move the pto lever to engage, put the tractor in gear, release the clutch , the tractor moves and the pto turns . Push the clutch part way down, the forward motion stops and the pto continues to turn. The last type, push the clutch down engage the pto lever, put the tractor in gear release the clutch the tractor moves and the pto turns. push the clutch in the tractor stops and the pto stops. used in most older tractors like the ford 8 N
