I am a city boy that just restored a Ford 9N. Had one as a kid on the farm. I also had a David Brown 1210. I now want to restore a DB for nestalgic reasons. I have located a 880 Selectamatic. What can you tell me about this tractor? My 1210 was a strong puller with great fuel efficnecy. However, the 3pt lift was week. This 880 DB tractor has been stored outside for most of its life. The stearing wheel has nothing left except steel. I did note the hours were about 4200 if the gauge can be trusted. It had an addon oil presure gauge. I think it was placed in the field (with a for sale sign) two or three years ago. It looks like it ran when they parked it. However, I am afraid that water has entered through the smoke stack and rusted the poistons. I could not see any visiable block cracks. Forgot to check the radiator. Just wondering how much I should offer? Rubber is 80%, and all sheet metal is there excetpt the grill. Any insights would be greatly appreciated.
