You will get as many answers as there are saws. I have always used Homelite as my Grandfather before me. He was a county man and sold me on them. I have one I use often that is just at 25 yrs old now. I have a newer one too but I wanna wear out the old one first. I get the largest XL offered and throw the 24" sprocket tip bar away and put a gas welded tip 16" bar on them. (I fix em for my brother and parents) Rarely do I cut over 32" log so this works well. The shorter blade allows me to use more horespower on the shorter chain and keeps the tip from digging dirt and dulling. I used to burn a Longwood Furnace and have cut up to 13 chord a year feeding it. My folks have it now (the furnace)and dual fuel it so it is a lot less work. Now I just play cutting wood.
