I had lots of crud on a diesel that I purchased. I warmed it up a bit (not hot) and sprayed it with Simple Green straight from the jug with a hand sprayer. Hosed it down with the garden hose after a few minutes and it removed 2/3 to ¾ of the grease and dirt. The second time over finished off almost all of it. Biodegradable too.
