You never hear of someone buying a gooseneck, then trading back to a bumper hitch.... There's a good reason why. Once you use a gooseneck, you'll never be satisfied with anything less. A gooseneck allows you to scale some of the weight on THE FRONT END of the tow vehicle, and not 4' behind the rear axle. SAFER, better braking, more load capacity. I've owned both. (several of each) Currently I use a Ridgeline 14,000GVW 2-axle, 20'+5'. My son just bought a 20,000GVW Corn Pro. I like the hide-a-ball hitches. much less interference with using the pick-up bed than a fifth wheel. A gooseneck might cost a few nickels more, but you get so much more for your money.
