Another brand you may want to consider is a Ford. These seem to sell cheaper used than JDs and in my opinion are just as good in quality. We own a 7610 which is about 90 hp, but with a little turn of a screw, can easily be turned up to over 100hp (one guy I know that rebuilds engines says he has seen one dyno at 125 hp with nothing more than turning up the fuel pump). A bigger and heavier tractor, which for tillage would probably be a plus for you would be an 8210 ford or even a TW series (I think a TW15 is about 110 hp). All the ford cabs I have seen are nice, but we only own open station. If you want an older tractor that will do the work and be a toy to brag about, get an allis d21, which for series 1 (unturboed) are around 107 hp, and for a series 2 (turboed) are around 125 hp. These are pretty difficult to find since not many were made, and parts will be a little expensive and hard to find, so only if you want a toy get a d21, if not, save it for the collectors. If you want cheap hp, look for an allis 190xt series 3. If its not a series 3 stay away, the rearends are not heavy enough. These tractors are about 105 hp. Allis 200, 210, and 220 are also all good big tractors and the good thing about these older ones is that they are much easier to work on. Below is a link to a sight that will give you all the hp, engine size, hydraulic rate of flow, etc for a lot of tractors.
