Dave: Without make and model, quite hard to give you advice. Most tractors will not be as offencive as yours with proper exhaust and mufler. Make sure that exhaust delivery point is above your head when seated on tractor. That makes a big difference. I have two tractors with same engine, one has proper mufler and the other a straight pipe. In both cases the exhaust delivery is above my head when on tractor seat. I notice very little difference in the two of them, unless I stand while operating. There probably are a few exceptions to what I've said. One that imediately comes to mind are the tractors equiped with Detroit 2 cycle diesels, if mankind had been intended to listen to those, he would have been born with ear muffs or no ears at all.
