That depends on your state or locallity. Here, leins are recorded with the County Court Clerk except for titled vehicles. A title can be searched online for those by the clerk. All other searches require an attorney to do the search. I've never had one checked on a tractor, just not done that I am aware of plus there is no way to search every possible county that it could have a lein against it in.
