Howdy, I appreciate all the replies. I really wasn't looking for procedure suggestions as I am familiar with the procedure for removing the pistons, etc. As far as the workload that the R gets, it is certainly not along the lines of a main use farm tractor. It is my primary work tractor but since I only do a share of the farming on the place (rest is leased to a neighbor) and the acreage is small according to today's standards, it really isn't on the scale of a full-time tractor. From what I'm reading here, I would say that just replacing the rings and doing a pretty good inspection on the rest is in order. Thanks again for the assistance. God bless. --old fashioned farmer p.s. You guys don't have remedy for fixing embarrasment do ya? Still feeling red-faced for not installing a new engine oil seal in a tractor I recently restored. That puddle under it really didn't add to the beauty of the tractor. :)
