A classmate of my wife's whose husband WORKED FOR one of the major ATV manufacturers lost her child when a mechanical failure (broken axle, I believe) occured on their 4-wheeler. That was a tough funeral.

What I can't understand is parents who would NEVER consider letting an underage kid drive the family car, but will turn the kids loose with a souped-up ATV or snowmobile with a "hotter" power-to weight ratio, (and less safety features and driver protection) than a sports car, without giving it a second thought!
