I only used them in a two mile radius but Ill say this the little yellow Motorolas worked better than the expensive large black Motorolas.Sounds to me like you need cellphones for what your doing.I mostly tried to ignore mine but when there was a medical emergency they and the guy I was telling call an ambulance failed me.I hate when a concrete block falls on a co-workers head.Poor guys name was Ed.Then they called him sore head Ed.He was ok after stitches.If you dont like aggravation pack lunch and spare fuel when you go out in the field.Just trying to be helpful.
