More RAM would definitely be a good idea either way. Now-a-days anything under 128 is pretty much obsolete, and 128 isn't anything to brag about :) You mentioned that it takes a long time to start up and log on? Do you have a desktop full of icons and shortcuts? Do you have lots of programs set to load on startup? Is the system tray full of lots of icons? These things all effect startup speed. I personally have a blank desktop with minimal programs set to load on startup. I have all of my common programs set to shortcut key commands. (crtl+alt+i for IE ctrl+alt+w for word etc)
