You are talking about the 460 or so UHF GMRS "General Mobile Radio Service" radios. Portable power is limited to 5W which is quit a step up from the 0.5W FMRS. The GMRS transmits over three times farther. Or 9+ db stronger signal. GMRS does allow the use of 25W repeaters which will boost your range. The Rino model130 GMRS does allow GPS location reporting with the push of a button. As previously stated. If you can find a cell phone that works on analogue, TDMA and GMS. With a good flat rate long distance plan between the radios. That cell system is tough to beat.
