I converted my Oliver 77 to 12 volts, and the guys at NAPA told me I had to replace the condensor with a new 12 volt one. This sounded a bit fishy to me, but I figured what the heck for $5. I installed the new condensor and fired it up. It ran good for about 30 seconds and began breaking up and sputtering. I shut it down and found that it had burned the points. I filed and reset the points, and regapped them and then installed the old condensor back in. I went out and turned down 5 acres with it now and the points are still fine. Could they have given me a bad condensor? or just a bad one? I always thought that a condensor was a condensor and no real specialties. I want to eventually convert it to electronic ignition. Does anyone know of any automotive junk yard recipes that will work on this old 6 cylinder? Thanks, Jordan Minneapolis
