Absolutely. I remember once doing something with the wiring, don't recall what was, but left a big ground off, and voltage ended trying to use 14 GA ground in the dash, and through the light filaments. I didn't notice it until one night in the dark that the dash lights were dimly lit. Everything was turned off, and were dim. Sure smoked that small wire. Once found my grounding problem and replaced the dash ground I'd smoked, problem resolved. Don't want to have a bad ground period, especially near fuel.
