If you have a 12 Volt (converted) 8N, you can simply use the original 6 Volt solenoid. For the limited time the solenoid is activated during starting, the 6 Volt solenoid will normally work for years. To keep the tranny-top safey switch in use (a MUST, for safety), you have to use the original type solenoid, as it's internal connections are different than most more modern sutomotive solenoids. If you are electrically knowledgeable, there is a special type of modern solenoid you can use, by adding a jumper wire, however, keeping it simple and using the 6 Volt unit is probably the simplest and best solution.
