MY TRACTOR(950 JOHN DEERE)HAS A LEVER THAT SAYS OPEN/CLOSE TOO! ACCORDING TO THE SHOP MANUAL THE OPEN POSITION LETS THE 3PT. OPERATE NORMALY. IF YOU WANT TO HOLD THE 3pt. IN A CERTAIN POSITION, YOU RAISE IT TO THAT POSITION AND "CLOSE" THE VALVE.THIS WILL HOLD THAT POSITION WITHOUT LETTING THE 3pt. DROP. THE CAUTION IN THE SHOP MANUAL STATES THAT UNDER NO CIRCUMSTANCES ATTEMPT TO RAISE OR LOWER 3pt. UNLESS YOU RE-OPEN THE VALVE. WHEN THE LEVER IS CLOSED THIS KEEPS PRESSURE OFF THE HYDRAULIC PUMP FOR LONGIVITY. AS FAR AS I CAN TELL,IF YOUR LIFT IS SLOW ON NON-OPERATIONAL WHEN WARM/HOT IT COULD BE EITHER THE ROCK SHAFT CYCLINDER OR HYDRAULIC PUMP SEALS LEAKING INTERNALLY. HOPE THIS SHEDS SOME LIGHT ON THE SUBJECT.IF I'M NOT MISTAKING THESE VALVES ARE ON SYSTEMS WITHOUT DRAFT CONTROL/BUT I COULD BE WRONG.
