Seth: Every farm tractor tire stamped on the side with proper rim size. That rim size indicates the ideal size to give very best traction with that tire. Keep in mind that recomendation is for on farm pulling in relatively loose soil. When I say loose, it is loose compared to a hard road or track. I can see where your coming from on tractor pulling, a wider rim would create a flatter tire face surface, for pulling on hard track. As one of the others said 13.6 was designed for 12" rim. I could see going 13" rim maybe 14", but not 15". You think about it, that 15" rim was designed for 16.9 tire. I remember once in the early days of tractor pulling, two guys with 966 Farmalls. Both tractors had come new with 18.4x38 tires. One guy decided he was going to outsmart the other guy by installing a set of 20.8x38 on same rims. He just made a fool of himself, the guy with the 18.4 out pulled him by 50'. The 20.8 tires really never gave up, just the vibration was so bad he had to stop. I watched these two pull, and couldn't believe what I was seeing. I had never seen a tractor do anything like that before. I had also seen these two guys and tractors pull when they both had 18.4. To be truthful the guy who stayed with 18.4 was just a bit better operator than the other guy and nothing was going to change that.

From the engine number, it was found that this Major was produced late 1946. It was almost complete but had various parts that would definitely need replacing.
