I wouldn't go any more than a 14" rim for a 13.6 tire. A wider rim pulls better, but you need to stay within an inch of the tire width. I pull with 16.9x38 tires on 16" rims. Stepping up from 14" rims made a big difference. Once you make the change, all bets are off concerning what you knew about tire pressure for certain tracks. It took me 3 months to get dialed in again. Your post says "Are these rims to(too) wide for 15.5-38" then you go on to say you want to mount 13.6 tires on the rims. Is one of these a typo? For 15.5 tires a 15" rim will be perfect.
