Tim,
It sounds like as well as a little TLC, it needs to be got hot (well up to operating temp) and worked hard for a while. Your problem will likely go away as the engine clears itself of deposits (from incomplete combustion on one or all cylinders). At those many hours it may have been apart before for new parts, unless you know different.
