First of all I don't know if your gas cap was made by Deere in Mexico or not. Remeber Deere has a factory for tractor and engine production in Mexico. You should be happy that the price you paid was acceptable. Slow moving parts like that have to be made at a price where they are marketable. Also FYI are you awear that Deere is building a factory in Russia and that it is also working on a new engineering facility in India. This is a global market and companies are handicapped for not having off shore production. In 1955 when my former employer started as an implement dealer there were 15 in this county. Now there are four. The number of acres farmed is probably within 90% of that farmed in 1955. I can remeber while I was in highschool we drove by a 93 acre corn field. Half of us lived on 80 acre farms. Now we plant 100 acres a day around here and think nothing of it.
