The Buffalo were not a threat until the officers walked into their personal 30 ft space. As the buffalo had no place to back-up and they were now threatened. Well Duh.......... Of course they are going to charge. The cops were treating the Buffalo like people. Well Duh.......this isn't the animals on the cartoons that talk, think and have values like people. 30ft also happened to be the magic distance within a cop can shoot somebody without too many questions being asked. Too many cops have watched TV and the movies where the Hero officer finds innocent helpless people in an immediately life threatening situation. The Hero pulls his gun and in a blaze of Rambo glory cleanly shoots the villains and adds another notch to his Hero belt. How many officers do you think are itching to pull their gun in a straight forward no questions asked situation. And become a hero celebrity within the police force, the public, family, friends and on TV?
