Inspired by the recent thread that called for a bit more followthrough when a fellow has asked a bunch of questions. I am the guy who asked a ton of questions about the Canadian tractors. Specifically the 1630. I had found one locally in Washington state. Buickandeere was kind enough to offer quite a bit of info, and a geography lesson as well.("The US is not the center of the universe") The archives where a great source of info as well. I searched 2240 (the US equivelant) and was schooled on other peoples comments regarding this model. Anyway the update: I bought the tractor. (despite Hugh's comments to stay away)I was seduced by the size, the live pto, the hi/lo. It lasted about 5 hours and the pto clutches went south. The sump screen was so packed with material that I could barely coax it out of the machine. Then there were the posts to try to diagnose that problem. Here a gent from TX, a retired shop manager I believe chimed in with some great advice and I continued to update him on progress via email. It is now in the shop for new clutches, I had to borrow a tilling rig from the neighbor, and it should be back on the farm mon/tue. For this headache I traded off a working tiller, 4x4 compact JD and a JD brush hog. Live and learn. Our produce operation is growing and we needed bigger equipment. I feel like I am reinventing the wheel this year. Thanks for all the help. Mike Peroni

The year was about 1967 and my father found a good used Ford 601 tractor to use on the farm instead of "Bob", our old mule. Now my grandfather had had this mule since the mid 40's and he was getting some age on him. S
