My '68 has a Continental engine. The original rear tires had 1969 date codes. Makes me suspect that '68 and '69 models were rambling about dealer and factory lots in 1969. Your comment about a choice when ordering reinforces that suspicion. I didn't have any freedom that year or any interest so I didn't notice. I'm of the opinion that had you ordered the Continental engine you would have found it had a serial number from '68 or earlier. My '68 (bought used in 1987) came with a '69 manual for the Perkins gas engine. I found the '68 manual that I bought from MF was a whole lot handier when taking care of the Continental engine.
