Warranty denials are becoming increasingly common at Sears stores. Whether it's twits at the counter (and they hire lots of them), or some management policies I cannot say. Though I'd suspect a bit of both.

Your tool does carry the standard Craftsman warranty and they are obligated to replace it. Unfortunately, it sounds like you will have to fight them for your rights at this store.

Next time, make sure you talk to a different twit at the counter.
