I have a 1976 255D that was purchased new(2 or 3 hours on it). It now has about 1700 hours and has been a real good tractor. I do not have remote hydraulics but I would like to get them some day! I do have a multi-power transmission which works very well for heavy pulling!
This is a great tractor for bushhogging! I pull a 6 foot Ford 3 PTH without any problem. I really like being up high in heavy grass and weeds. I move round rolls of hay with little problem. I do need frontend weights for this job, but not many! A friend uses it to rake hay with a 3 PTH double rake and it does a great job.

I believe that it is a good handling tractor!

I have replaced the Kingpin because the zerk was missing or broken and I didn't know that grease was needed. General preventive maintenance is about all I've done.

I've installed a $ 22.00 block heater and it cranks well in the winter to feed with! We plug it up about 30 minutes before we need it!

Last year I added a step to ease mounting and dismounting! I'm 45 and if you're doing chores it gets old jumping off and climbing on. My tractor is a row crop model and has good ground clearance! The step has been worth the $ 25.00 I paid!

The only minus for me is the location of the battery! Mounted in front of the radiator requires almost removal including both side panals to properly service the battery!

Any other questions send an e-mail or post here!

Today's Featured Article - Old Time Threshing - by Anthony West. A lovely harvest evening late September 1947, I was a school boy, like all school boys I loved harvest time. The golden corn ripens well and early, the stoking, stacking,.... the drawing in with the tractors and trailers and a few buck rakes thrown in, and possibly a heavy horse. It would be a great day for the collies and the terrier dogs, rats and mice would be at the bottom of the stacks so the dogs, would have a busy time hunting and killing, all the corn was gathered and ricked in what we c ...
