I used to work cleaning boilers and industrial equipment (doesn't make me a pro) and this is what I would do. Go to the local hardware store and buy a small container of TSP trisodium phosphate and a bottle of meratic acid. Take about 1 cup of tsp and some VERY hot water to fill the tank. Leave it sit for an hour but stir it often dump this into a pail for later. Rinse 2X with hot water. Now while tank is hot use 120 deg. or slightly cooler water with about 8-16 ounces of meratic acid. Let this soak a couple hours stirring often and keep it warm. Try not to stir so hard that you get a lot of air in the solution. Now dump this out on some lime stone or into sewer drain (city not septic system) followed with the water mixed with TSP (will just help to neutralize it). Rinse your tank with hot water about 5 or 6 times completely full, then blow it dry fast to keep surface rust from forming. When all of the water is out I would mist it with wd40 to protect it until you get fuel back into it. The tsp will remove the organic oil and gas getting you to the metal. The acid of course will get rid of your iron scale. Be sure to use rubber gloves and don't let either contents get on any alluminum, it will eat it up. Eric

It would be a great day for the collies and the terrier dogs, rats and mice would be at the bottom of the stacks so the dogs, would have a busy time hunting and killing, all the corn was gathered and ricked in what we c
