You are prolly referring to the Sherman Auxilary transmissions that were first an aftermarket and later an option on older N-100 series 3&4spd Fords.Available in "step down gearing",step up gearing and combo(hi/std/low)units..they installed between the clutch and standard transmission inside the clutch housing. Not an item you can just go somewhere and buy,but the do come up for sale on Ebay and from various sources.Best bet here would be to post your need on the "N-board" on this site.
