I got an old horse drawn manure spreader that I finally had some time to use. Problem was I broke one of the links for the bars that draw the manure to the beaters when I was trying to loosen up all the rusted drive pulleys. So to TSC I went, natch they did'nt have the size I needed. That's okay 'cause I did'nt want to buy 10 feet of chain to replace one link. So what to do? I ended up wrapping some heavy wire through the links and twisting it with some channel locks to tighten it. Then I put a hose clamp on and tightened it up the rest of the way. Well it held! I was pretty darn proud of myself. I could imagine Roger Welsch standing there giving an approving nod. Got me to thinking, what kind of ingenious solutions to equipment problems have you guys come up with? I remember my grandfather had some pretty neat things he cobbled up around the farm.
