My dad used to tell a story of when he snuck his father's pistol out of the house and took it to school with him. The teacher at the one room school made him take it back home. Dad died 18 years ago, he was only 60 years old. A day doesn't go by that I don't wish I could have one more conversation with him. My father-in-law died five years ago, and I miss him almost as much as my own dad.

There is no known history regarding its origins or what service it had done, but the following work was undertaken alone to bring it up to show standard. From the engine number, it was found that this Major was produced late 1946. It was almost complete but had various parts that would definitely need replacing.
