But are there any Chinese Long tractors? As other posters have said, they were made in eastern Europe (Romania, I think) in the 70's and 80's, and were really pretty good units, and reasonably priced. If they are now in China, it would be good to know when that started, so later models could be avoided. 'Course, you all know its just a matter of time before China starts "getting it right". Remember when "Made in Japan" meant cheap junk? Now they have no equal when it comes to automobiles- and Kubota tractors aren't exactly sneered at anymore. The Hyundais from Korea were miserable when they first came out, but are excellent quality now (as are the Kia's), and the Chinese probably aren't far behind. They're business plan is hard to fault- just start making stuff, as best you can, and refine it as learning curve increases and as capital accumulation allows. Nobody ever accused the far eastern Asians of being stupid. . .
