In my humble opinion it is a total waste of time. If you need new bearings then you will also need to regrind the crank. If the oil pressure is normal and the engine has been serviced at the correct intervals, Perkins engines should do about 10,000 to 12,000 hrs minimum. Usually you will find that she starts to smoke from the breather or becomes a bad starter. At that time overhaul the complete engine and get her ready for another period of hard work.
